Peel Away Summer Damage This Fall

Chemical Peels, Door To Door Med Spa, Austin, TXIt is fall and time to improve the appearance of your skin. Chemical peels are a great way to rejuvenate the skin, through exfoliation. Chemical peels, such as the VI Peel®, are appropriate for treating aging skin, crow’s feet, acne scars, sun-damaged skin and wrinkles—plus, they help firm and tighten the skin.

A VI Peel® is a great way to achieve more radiant skin; it can achieve—in one session— what a laser or IPL requires with multiple sessions. It is almost painless, and the VI Peel® can be used on all skin types. Peels should be done three to four times a year to help maintain healthy skin and to remove damaged skin.

A single VI Peel® can help repair skin and give a healthy glow. Skin with acne scars, hyperpigmentation and pore enlargement will require multiple treatments. The peeling associated with the VI Peel® typically starts on day three and ends by day seven. Patients using Retin-A may experience heavier peeling.

The acids work at a cellular level to help build collagen and elastin to tighten the skin, erase lines and reduce hyperpigmentation.

We offer three types of chemical peels, they include:

  • The traditional VI Peel® contains TCA, Retinoic acid (vitamin A), Salicylic acid and Phenol and L-Ascorbic acid (vitamin C)—which can help with rejuvenation.
  • The VI Peel® with Precision Plus is a powerful booster that can be added to treat stubborn melasma and pigmentation. It contains Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid and hydrocortisone.
  • The VI Peel® Purify is designed for acne, blemish prone skin. A Precision booster may be added to provide a treatment that is 25% stronger. It contains the five key ingredients from VI Peel®—plus, Benzoyl Peroxide, Kojic acid and Hydrocortisone to help calm and treat acne.

These specific chemical peels are not recommended in patients with broken skin, sunburns or active Herpes Simplex 1.  Peels are not recommended for patients that are nursing or pregnant, have taken Accutane in the last six months, or have an allergy to aspirin or phenol. After getting a peel, you should refrain from activities that will produce perspiration for the first 72-96 hours. The skin will also be more sensitive after the peeling process. Sun exposure should be avoided on days three and four when peeling is most intense. After that, moderate sun exposure with sunscreen and sun protection is allowed.

Chemical peels do not make the skin thinner. They help slough off old skin and help the body to recreate new skin at a faster rate. This stimulates collagen and elastin production.

The VI Peel® and similar products are safe for patients 13 years and up. They can safely treat both adult and adolescent acne. A series of peels can also help treat acne scars. They can also be effective in removing sunspots on the hands, arms and chest and in reducing wrinkles from sun damage in the décolletage.

It takes less than 20 minutes to apply a peel and get skin that is luminous and glowing. Take advantage of our specials this month on the various VI Peel® offerings and get more youthful, radiant skin. Call 512-309-5161 to schedule your appointment now!
